Last night, a mall nearby launched a fireworks display that made everyone rush out to the open area. We have all seen fireworks before, perhaps even more majestic than that, but that did not prevent me and my fellow mall-goers from whipping out our cameras. Young and old oohed and aahed and clapped with glee. Nothing like a fireworks display to bring out the kid in us, eh?

As soon it was over, we all trooped back inside, where Christmas songs blasted from the mall’s PA system and the booth selling CDs. And that was when I noticed that the mall was already adorned with lights and lanterns.
Wow. It’s Christmas. The malls have officially declared the start of the season.

My birthday is coming up, and I slowly inch my way towards the mid-30s. I know that I look it too, because I’ve been meeting a lot of new people and they couldn’t bring themselves to drop the “po” and the “ate” when talking to me. I still can’t believe it - I am now actually asking people to stop being “so courteous,” but their good breeding can’t make them do it. So what the heck, I decided to just see the bright side, and that is their parents raised them well.
Yes, I have peacefully accepted that I will be meeting more people who will feel compelled to bring out their good manners and right conduct by treating me like their grandmother. Good thing the grandmas of today are so fab. Wise. Elegant. Beautiful. Hmm. I now feel the courtesy is actually a compliment.

I still can’t believe I’m telling you this - I have just been given an opportunity to work in a tv show!

The people behind the show, and gosh! I’m one of them. Woohoo!
I will be working as one of the writers in TV 5’s upcoming kiddie show, titled Kiddie Kwela (as of this date.) It will be hosted by Bayani Agbayani. The show will have a total of 8 episodes and will have its pilot episode on November 11 at 8pm. Continue reading ‘Me, On TV!’ »

I believe I don’t get offended easily. If I do, the offense is great. And then,
1. I find it difficult to be calm and graceful when I get stark raving mad.
2. I may have forgiven, but I just can’t forget. When I remember, I sometimes forget I have forgiven.
3. Sometimes I can’t forgive at all.
Forgiveness doesn’t come to me easily. It takes enormous effort to choose to forgive and to forgive again, and I have to do so because I want to be free.

Long weekend? It was a short weekend, at least for me. We were out the whole day everyday, having fun with our loved ones. It would be my birthday in a couple of days, and instead of having a feast with all of them on that day, I figured, why not give them a treat in advance?
You see, I want my birthday spent in a spa. I want a relaxing bone-breaking massage, I want to prettify my nails, I want a makeover, I want to shop. I want the works and I want to do all of them alone, because I’ve been working hard, because I’m officially off the calendar.

My friend Sunshine wrote about a nightmare she had last night. Hey, is it the season for nightmares? I just had one of my own last night too.
Oyo Boy Sotto, who was supposedly my brother, was a vampire. My sister and I forced him inside a room. I was trying to keep his mouth closed, because he was growing fangs, and I could feel his teeth on my palm. When I shoved Oyo my brother in the room, my sister promptly closed the door, and I installed pad locks.

The short version of the story is, my computer conked out, and the only person in the world my husband trusts to fix the problem became available only recently. So there.
It was a long, agonizing wait. You have no idea how much I bugged my husband to get someone else to do it for him.
Until I remembered to be patient and trust that he knows what he is doing.

I remember I once wanted to learn violin.
| You Should Play the Violin |

You are highly intelligent, and mastering difficult subjects never intimidates you.
And while you may not be musical yet, you have a good ear - and you’re sensitive to subtle differences in music. You are dedicated and studious. You have a great work ethic.
You study well under a teacher, and you don’t mind repeating tasks or following instructions.Expressive and moody, you are very likely to convey a variety of rich emotions through your music.
You are definitely a passionate person… passionate enough to truly love the violin.Your dominant personality characteristic: your high intelligenceYour secondary personality characteristic: your sensitivity |
What Musical Instrument Should You Play?
But when I was in high school, my parents made me learn piano. I remember objecting, that I would like to play guitar or the violin instead. Or singing lessons! (There was a time in my life when I seriously believed I could sing eventhough the world disagreed. I shrugged them off when they begged for me to stop singing and thought their disapproval was inability to see real talent, tsk tsk. )
But no, I had to learn to play piano, because they already enrolled me in a Yamaha school. And the piano was going to be delivered the next day.
I forgot all objections the minute I saw the piano in our living room. I loved it already. I got very excited at the idea of being able to play really complicated pieces and being able to swap piyesa with piano-playing friends.
