Last night, a mall nearby launched a fireworks display that made everyone rush out to the open area. We have all seen fireworks before, perhaps even more majestic than that, but that did not prevent me and my fellow mall-goers from whipping out our cameras. Young and old oohed and aahed and clapped with glee. Nothing like a fireworks display to bring out the kid in us, eh?

As soon it was over, we all trooped back inside, where Christmas songs blasted from the mall’s PA system and the booth selling CDs. And that was when I noticed that the mall was already adorned with lights and lanterns.
Wow. It’s Christmas. The malls have officially declared the start of the season.

I was chopping some vegetables in the kitchen when I noticed these pretty little things. I think they are such a beauty, I MUST take a snapshot so you can admire it with me.

These are the bottom part of the mustard leaves. But for me, they look like pretty flowers, perfect for a bud vase.

A wise business owner looks for ways to decrease costs.
But this sign I found in a hardware store seems a little too extreme.

Isn’t that hilarious! Good thing we didn’t need a rope for our purchases. I guess that’s why I could afford to laugh because I don’t think the sprinkle of “Po” made the store policy unobjectionable.

SM Supermarket was offering a buy 1 take 1 promo on their Pepsi softdrinks.

Yes, that’s a “was” because I took the last bottles on the shelf, hehe! I am expecting company this weekend so this is a great bargain. But maybe there is more in the stockroom for the other customers.

I’ve had my camera for more than a year now but I have yet to master its features. The few beautiful pictures I’ve captured are most definitely tsamba, mere strokes of good luck.
Julie, whose pictures are so awesome, gave me a tip on my camera’s settings. Just one tip. Which I immediately put to use.
So here is my picture (resized, though) which I know may not impress the pros but I would love to share just the same, because for the first time, it isn’t tsamba.

Thanks Julie. I will have this photo on print and displayed at home.

Thick black smoke could be seen along the stretch of Quezon Avenue yesterday afternoon. Fire trucks screamed from all directions. All motorists were cooperative and tried to let the trucks pass, but they could only do so much. Traffic was already heavy to begin with.
We turned on the radio and found out that the fire was located in Bgy. Sto. Domingo. I hope no one got hurt.
I couldn’t help taking a picture of this billboard. The smoke became the perfect backdrop for the question it posed.

“Insured ka na ba?” (Are you insured?)
Updated March 15, 2008 : This incident was featured in the news and on tv.

It’s supposed to look like this.
But for now it’s a nightmare that looks like this.

With about 10 or so parts as thin as these.
And a gazillion parts as tiny as this.

Â
It doesn’t matter if I designate a special toy box for this heap. Soon it’ll find its way in the most obscure places. You know what I’m talking about.
Oh, the stress that awaits me!
Nevertheless, many thanks to my sister for giving this gift to my son. He finds it wonderful. He is now singing praises to his aunt as I massage my temples.

Last weekend, we were in Residence Inn in Tagaytay. Sa lugar na ito merong mini-zoo. I guess it was called “mini” because the area was too small for a zoo. Isang malaking bahay lang na ginawang tourist attraction.
What made this place special was that there were animals you wouldn’t have expected in such a small zoo. There were healthy tigers and a healthy bear. (Pasensiya na I feel it necessary to emphasize they are healthy - kasi sa Manila Zoo mukhang kawawa ang karamihan sa mga hayop doon.) I wasn’t able to take a picture of the bear, ang kapal kasi ng cage.

Merong llama, na nakikita ko lang sa Disney movies.

The peacocks were not in cages, nasa ilalim lang ng mga puno.

Ang lilinis ng mga sawa, at ang tataba!

I was told there were lions pero hindi na namin pinuntahan. We had to go down several flights of stairs to reach the lions’ den, and although the view was splendid, parang hindi na namin kakayanin ang pagpanhik pabalik sa taas. Masakit na sa binti.
But my heart went out to these animals.

Nakakaawa diba. They are chickens.

Took more pictures of flowers - my current favorite subject (because it’s easy hehe!) Below are the ones I am most proud of.

I am so eager to take a picture of the moon but the next full moon will be on November 5. So, this would have to do.
