This picture was taken 3 years ago. It was my children’s first time in Luneta. My son was 4 years old and my daughter was still a baby and sleeping soundly on the stroller. We bought the bottle of bubble solution in his hand for P10. Wide open space, green grass, and lots of bubbles - boy, that was fun.
That was also the last time we visited Luneta.

A real live doll, that is. It was my turn to carry my 2-month old niece.

It felt weird at first because the last time I carried a baby was 3 years ago. For a while there, I thought I have forgotten what it’s like.
But in seconds, I maneuvered her like a pro. Carrying a baby is a lot like biking - once you’ve learned, you never forget.
And gosh! She is heavy!

My niece’s 5th birthday will fall on a weekday this week, so we decided to celebrate it ahead of time by going out for a nice lunch in Gerry’s Grill in Trinoma.

The ampalaya (bitter gourd) seedlings are ready to move out of the container.

But as I have mentioned in my previous post, we don’t have much land around the house. Growing vines may prove to be a challenge.
Thankfully, I did find some ideas on the net which could work for me. I excitedly bought some materials and was soon able to transfer the plants to a bigger container.

We love Krispy Kreme, and so I bought a box of Original Glazed. The kids were so excited and immediately opened the box as soon as I set it on the table.
Then the two began bickering on which of them got the roundest doughnut, the sweetest doughnut, the cutest, the most wonderful of the pack. That hers was the prettiest but he would argue that she got the weirdest, because his was the coolest.
I got tired of the noise and so I said in a stern voice, “Please! Just sit down and enjoy your doughnut!”
With a mischievous grin, my son said, “Hala! Enjoy agad? Pano step 1 at step 2?” (Uh-oh! Enjoy it right away? What about step1 and step 2?”)
And then he pointed at the box. Continue reading ‘How To Enjoy A Doughnut’ »

I love it when my children ask for more of the dish I cooked. When they mutter “Mmm…” or exclaim “Delicious!,” expect me to fly past cloud 9.
I love hearing my son tell me what happened in school. I love hearing about his latest antics with his classmates, his teachers’ new lectures, and his favorite Mr. Potato Head in his computer class.
I love watching my daughter dance. She does no fancy moves, she just sways her hips and flail her arms. But for me, that is the best dance move ever.
I love it when my husband washes the dishes, when he picks up the kids’ clutter, when he does things around the house. He will insist on doing those things himself even when I tell him I’m fine and he can leave it all to me. I am grateful he insists because I don’t really mean it. I love sitting on the sofa and watching him work.
I love it when my husband and I realize we have been thinking about the same thing, and that happens often. Like this morning, I wanted him to buy puto which is being sold only during mornings. But I forgot to tell him about my craving when he left to bring my son to school. I couldn’t call him because he also forgot to bring his mobile phone. And then he got home, and showed a bag of puto for me.

I love simple memes like these, because it makes me pause and think about my life. I realize that my life is so simple but full of love and happiness, and I thank the heavens for my good fortune.

I planted a handful of bok choy seeds in a pot of soil-less mix last week. This morning I was greeted by these spots of green.

I will transfer them in a larger pot, hopefully, in a week or two. The seed packet says I will be able to harvest them in 35 days. I am so excited, I can already imagine the steaming plate of sauteed vegetables on our table. Continue reading ‘Beginnings’ »

This scene in the mall earned a lot of snickers and amused stares from people.

My son was so tired he slept right there on top of the grocery cart eventhough it must be the most uncomfortable place in the world for a nap.
My daughter, who is my son’s biggest fan, immediately asked to be sitted beside him, closed her eyes and slept.
Or rather, pretended to. She convinced no one that she was fast asleep, no matter how tightly shut her eyes were.

When my children and I go for a quick visit to my parents’ office, and the folks are entertaining a couple of new clients, we would be introduced to them by my dad as soon as we step in.
Yan ang panganay namin, yan naman ang mga anak niya.
As always, I will give a polite smile and quietly shoo my children in the other room.
Unfortunately, my dad won’t stop there. For the nth time, he will bring out his old and corny lines.

I’m three, three, THREE!

Sigh. It’s been three short years since we had this baby.
