Ate’s Clothes

We will always have an argument, Ate and I, as we get dressed. I will lay out a pretty blouse or dress I just bought for her, and she will adamantly refuse to wear them. She will insist on wearing an old faded shirt, which I think has gotten too small for her. She will not compromise, she will not be persuaded into believing she looks good in the clothes I picked for her. No no no!

One family day, the rest of us are again decked in our Sunday best while she wears  a Dora shirt she got when she was 2 (she will be 5 in a few months). Refusing to cringe yet again on how odd we must look to people, I sat down with her and asked why. Why doesn’t she want to wear the pretty green blouse with the snowflakes. Or the one with red flowers. Or the dress with a yellow ribbon.

“Ayoko ng walang sleeves,” she said.

And the dresses?

“Ayoko makita ang underwear ko.”

Aaw. The clothes I bought are far from sexy (I swear they are decent!), but yes, they are mostly sleeveless. I decided to respect her wishes, I’ll buy  a jacket so she can still wear them. Sayang naman if I’ll just give them away.

For how long she will remain this way, I’m not sure. I will just enjoy the refreshing choice of this little girl who, though surrounded with friends who wear the latest in kiddie fashion, still prefers a simple and conservative look.

Naku Deye is her total opposite! Mas gusto ang mga dresses at eto ha laging gusto naka-tuck in kasi daw sexy haha! Don’t know where she got that from eh di naman ako nagta-tuck in sa kondisyon kong ito hahaha! Tapos when I let her “try on” other dresses kahit pa fresh from the display aba eh ayaw ng huhubadin.

    hahaha! Pamunas! Mismo!
I even snip off the tags. I already told her how pretty her arms are, pero ayaw talaga.

She loves wearing dresses–feeling princess.

Nakakatuwa ang little girl mo Cess
