Calamansi Season

No doubt, it’s calamansi season. It’s pretty easy to know - the outskirts of a market are dotted with bags of calamansi for sale. And a kilo costs PHP 10, or roughly US$0.22.

From a kilo, I was able to extract a glass of pure calamansi. Pour into 2 quarts of water and we’ll have refreshing calamansi juice.
I saved the peels for my plants.

I pureed them in my mini-chopper.

I know this looks really awful, but I read somewhere that fruit and veggie peels grinded with lots of water are good for enriching the soil.
I think it won’t hurt to try. In fact, it sounds perfect to me, as I want to avoid all commercial fertilizers on my plants. I buried the mixture under the soil just beside the plants’ roots.
All that goodness for only PHP 10.

oh, i love calamansi! when i was in thailand, i found it weird na wala silang kalamansi at all. meron sila lemon… kaya naman when i bought some kalamansi there, my thai friends loved the juice! and i find it a good source of vit c din, might try to plant calamansi here, too. wish us luck!

Ay Cess, yung pinagbalatan you can use that to scrub on dark spots sa body mo. Ganyan ginagawa namin ng sisters ko since way back. Effective talaga

Aba, makabili nga mamaya. I add calamansi juice with the orange juice or iced tea I prepare for the kids. Though it makes the Sunquick juice more asim, it is exactly how I like it

Hi Cess. I love calamansi juice too. We have a calamansi bearing tree in our garden. We also buy more calamansi to make refreshing healthy, juice drink.
I think it’s a great idea to make good use of the peels as an alternative fertilizer. I’m sure your plants will really benefit from it.

Iba talaga yung lasa ng calamansi sa lemon pero pag naman nasanay ka sa lemon maiinip ka sa konting katas na nakukuha mo sa bawat piga mo ng calamansi, isang lemon lang kasi dami na juice agad.

Hi Cess, yeah I was at the market the other day, gulat ako, ang mura ng calamansi. Now, am thinking of preparing my beauty concoction, the one I told you about using these calamansi.
