She Did It!
I bear good news.
Our 2-year old daughter, who will be 3 in a couple of months, is now toilet-trained. Yipee-ya-yay!
And so a new dilemma begins.
I am now dreading going places, as I have no idea how I’ll make her do her business without her bottom grazing the toilet bowl.
This part of toilet training was a breeze during my son’s time - there were clean urinals for little boys in most women’s restrooms. Not to mention that the boys’ way is much, much easier. No choice but to use a toilet bowl - no problem.
But with my daughter - I’m stumped. How can I make her avoid sitting on a toilet bowl when she’s barely 3 feet tall? Squatting on the floor is disgusting. Wiping the rim upon entering the cubicle even more so. I cannot imagine cleaning someone else’s mess (*shivers).
Unless I bring disposal gloves with an arsenal of tissue and toilet spray. But the idea of doing the whole santizing process is too cumbersome and my daughter will most likely fail to wait for me to finish.
Please, please advise! To parents and guardians of little girls, how do you assist your princesses in using a public restroom?
Thanks in advance ![]()

I buy disposable toilet seat covers in Watson’s. Also antibacterial wipes. Yep, I have an arsenal of stuff for toilet duty in the mall. And your best bet are those Pay Toilets. They’re cleaned after every use by an attendant.
Congratulations to Dora!!
LC: thanks cookie! mwa! i’ll check watson’s right away!

congrats to Dora! and to the Mom, that’s really good news!
agree ako. mas madali paihiin in public toilets ang potty-trained boys, kasi no need to worry to sit, kasi naman pwede nakatayo.
great tip there by Cookie, Mitch and Raq. I’ll remember these tips. alam mo na, baka someday magka girl din ako. heehee.

Hi! was blog hopping and i came across yours… congrats to your little girl.
well no choice talaga tayo when it comes to public toilets. kahit na ayaw ko din mag sit
ang little girl ko sa toilet bowl eh no choice. so i always have antibacterial wipes and toilet paper
and clean the rim before she sits. it’s a good thing that she can hold her pee. i just keep
saying wait lang baby mama’s just making sure the toilet’s clean etc.. nice advise re
disposable toilet seat covers.

Since Kelvin graduated from his potty training, your dilemma has been at the back of my mind. I will the tips in mind they might come in handy in the future. Tuwang-tuwa nga ako (kahit dyahi) kasi kapag ihing-ihi na sya talaga, kahit saan sige anak, the world is your toilet…

Hi mommy cess, mga kids ko kasi natuto during our stay in other country eh, doon may mga squat toilet bowls for toddlers and adults…with water hose na kaya ang lagi kong dala sa bag ko is liquid soap.
Mahirap nga iyan siguro gayahin na lang natin ang style nung isang artista lagi siyang may dalang tabong maliit sa bag niya and soap iwawash niya kid niya down there after happy pupu, anyway congrats to little Dora and of course to you for the best trainor hehe..

yes, like what mitch said, if you can find one of those foldable seats, they are real handy.
or just purell the toilet before you use it and know that a little bit of toilet germs won’t hurt.
hi cess,
its been a while.

Hi Cess. Before anything else, thank you for your birthday greetings. I really appreciate it.
Congratulations to Dora’s latest milestone. I also buy disposable seat covers and keep them handy. Even though I have a boy, I keep one handy just in case he needs to do no. 2 in a public toilet. Pardon me for saying that. Anyway, I also buy anti-bacterial Flushable Paper toilet seat cleaner (the brand is Freshening). I buy it at S&R. It comes in small boxes with 5 individually wrapped sachets.

Thanks for posting the problem .. ang daming suggestions. May disposable toilet seat cover pala. hmmm sa Watsons.
During my time .. how did i cope. I guess I wasn’t so finicky and paranoid (am not saying you are … haha) and I guess what chesca says is true … a bit of unclean won’t hurt and may be immune the young kids. Kasi pag masyado antiseptic ang conditions … baka mas mababa ang resistance. That’s the rationale for immunization di ba?
But don’t take it from me. haha

I was just reading this the other day when my hubby texted me that Faith had an “unfortunate incident” in Megamall. She has long been toilet-trained, but bec. I also have your predicament, I let her wear diapers when we go out.
I can’t help but be proud of my husband (parang gusto ko syang bigyan ng medal), for handling the incident with aplomb. I knew how nerve-wracking it was considering that Faith won’t let her bare feet touch any surface in any restroom other than our own.
Thanks a lot for the tip, I’ll be going to watson’s shortly.

you’ll just have to make sure you have bundles of tissue so you can wipe the seat before you let your daughter sit on it. And you will just have to hold her hands while she went potty.
