What You’ll Surely Expect in a School Program

So you want to see your adorable kid in his/her cute costume sing and dance in a school program.

What you should do is get up from your chair and find a good spot.

Because if you stay rooted in your seat, you will not see anything but this.

And while I’m sure your kid will be spectacular, don’t expect your fellow parents to see that.

Chances are, they will not see anyone else but their own child through their camera’s viewing screens. Unless of course, your kid is blocking their view.

LABAN! hahaha!

Guilty ako dyan. Every school program, strategic ang pwesto ko. Plus I bring tripod so I can take the video and take pics at the same time.

LC: hehehe, may tripod pa ha? kami ni hubby, tig isa. he has the camera, i take the video, pero mas madali yung style mo. next time i’ll bring a tripod :D

That is why we are always early. Most times, nag-seset up pa lang andyan na kami.

Cess, ganyan talaga especially if there is no elevated stage. When we have the Family Day in JASMS, the grounds are big and the children are placed not too near each other kaya ayun, hindi nagsisiksikan ang mga parents. We still arrive early though to get good seats, mahirap na :)

LC: oo nga e. the stage in my son’s school is elevated naman, about a foot or two nga lang :D. funny nga e, last december, the teachers decided to put the chairs far back , such that there’s an empty space in front of the stage for us shutterbugs. tutal nagugulo lang ang mga chairs pag nagpe-perform na ang mga bata.
im going to transfer my son to another school when he reaches grade 1, siguro i should take a look at the prospective school’s bulwagan first. hahaha!

    hehehe.

they should have at least show the courtesy of sitting down kahit nasa unahan, akala mo tuloy sila yung pinapanuod hehehe

LC: ay naku, you’re right. dyan, hindi ako guilty. i stay at the back of the pack and let my camera do its tricks :).

The school should build a stage that’s high enough for everyone to see all the performers, even if all the spectators are seated down. Wala sigurong budget para diyan. Oops. He he

LC: korek haha! baka para magawa ang project na yan they would need to increase the tuition fee… di bale na lang, magtiyaga na lang kami na mababa ang stage :D

I know how frustrating that could be, Cess.

Shouldn’t there be a stage? And seats for the audience?

hahaha, i can relate. isa rin akong super mini na kahit nga sa grocery i need someone to reach the upper shelves ano. pano pa kaya sa mga ganyang shows? alam mo buti dito they make sure na ang asa unahan would be the kids muna. talagang pinapaalis nila yung mga parents na asa harapan.

also it would be good if the administration or teachers organize it in such a way that if it is your kid’s turn to be on stage, they rotate the parents who have the first row.
i was at a function one time here in the states where this was done.
(meaning, they would have to keep the first two rows on a rotating basis.)
suggest mo kaya–bago mo ilipat yung anak mo?

[...] post of Lady Cess about her son’s school program made me remember how it is with children with special needs when they have their own school program [...]

  15. Rowena:

Hi Cess, guilty ako nyan, pero I ako, I would squat or kneel down, so I can take pics or video. Kainis kasi pag me na-miss ako with my kid’s performance, he he. Stage mother in the making noh….

Cordoned off ang stage from about 5 feet, and there are student volunteers (from the CAT Corps) who politely tell off parents na matitigas ang ulo. hahaha!
With such a high-tech camera as yours, you don’t really need to scramble for the front seats no. :)

Hi Cess. That was precisely what happened during the Christmas presentation at Yohan’s school. Funny how parents can sometimes lack discipline. I’m one of the guilty ones. Ha ha!

It’s true, my eyes were focused on my son and only appreciated the others when I watched the video after.

right,di pwedeng mag stay ka lang sa chair mo,kelangang makipagsiksikan sa crowd?i guess ganyan ang style talaga sa pinas, kulang sa discipline.

    happy monday!

    Hi,

I expect I’ll be one of the worst stage moms when Faith and bunso are old enough to perform.

I remember this mom of 5 talented kids in my elem. and highschool-while her kid is orating or singing, she would stand, feet apart, in the aisle and guide her kid.

LC: hahaha! this is funny! aliw!

Hi, I found your website by following a link from someone else’s blog. This is a funny post! In my youngest brother’s school, every time there is a gym demo (the whole batch dances), there are special areas around the gym for parents. 2 or 3 years ago the teachers implemented a new system para all the parents can get shots of their kids: the kids dance twice! 1st time, everyone has to stay put in their seats. Sorry nalang if you have a bad view of your kid. 2nd time, parents can go right in front of their child to take photos or video. It’s chaotic but it somehow satisfies the parents. :)
