let’s dance!

My husband and I made a promise to ourselves that we would not care whether or not our son, who is now in Prep, gets high grades in school.

As long as he learns the discipline that would enable him to deal with life, we are content. This does not mean failing grades are ok. We just refuse to track our son’s development through his report card alone.

And then the teacher gave me this news.

“Congratulations po. Second honor ang anak nyo,” she said.

Wow! Music to my ears. Well, at least I think the teacher sang this announcement to me.

Oh yeah, yeah, we know his being, ahem, an honor student doesn’t necessarily guarantee a successful future.

Nevertheless, I can’t help gushing. Boy, I’m so proud.

Absent pa ang anak ko nyan! A-doo-doo-doo, a-da-da-da! What if he had perfect attendance, and therefore submitted all of his homework?

That’s all I want to say to you… A-doo-doo-doo, a-da-da-da….

OOh what proud mama! I would be proud. Grades do matter especially in entering a good school. I tell the kids that their grades belong to them not to me.

dito sa canada, walang ranking ang mga students… teachers won’t even say if my kids are at the top of their class, or middle or at the bottom.
