afternoon delight
I must always have a steaming mug of coffee around 4-5 in the afternoon. It doesn’t matter if it’s the middle of summer, I still must have one. It has become a major habit such that as soon as I get hit by a craving for coffee, I could tell what time is it without looking at the clock on the wall.
This began during the early days of my being a housewife. I was so tired at the end of the day I was already cranky at 6, and was about to fall asleep by 7.
Drinking coffee at 6 would make it difficult for me to sleep, so 4-5 in the afternoon was the perfect time. I would have just enough caffeine boost to keep me alert as the evening rolls in, and it has worn off when it’s time for bed.
There was a time when I tried substituting hot tea. My mom just gave me packets of chamomile tea, and really, they were good. But it couldn’t provide the boost that I get from coffee.
One time a colleague gave my husband this big bottle of imported coffee that smelled oh so good. I had a cup of that coffee at the usual time. Yum! But at 6 pm, I was clutching my hair like I was going bonkers.
“It’s decaf!” I snarled. There was no mention of decaf on the label, but the word LIGHT was there in gold, but small, letters. I felt cheated, like somebody dropped something illegal in my drink.
The coffee was immediately given to the eager hands of my father-in-law. He likes all kinds of coffee, especially if free.

I’m not much of a coffee drinker but I love meeting friends over coffee. While they appreciate their steaming hot coffee, I savor my cold frapuccino with matching piece of pastry or cake.

i don’t like decaf either.
Me and my wife are addicted to Boncafe’s Columbian mocca gourmet coffee. Knowing what Columbia is famous for, I was wondering if they are putting “additives”.

Whenever I take decaf I get a headache. I’m liking the new “First Pick” variant of Nescafe. Not that I’m a brewed coffee hater, I just find it easier to just go with instant. But a nice big mug of brewed really hits the spot

I’m not a coffee drinker since it makes my heartbeat pretty fast. I’m more of a tea drinker
Enjoy your cup though

i love coffee… pero ngayon hinay hinay lang ako. I still haven’t visited by gastro (for follow-up). He says stay away from coffee. I can’t help it. Minsan, for a week, walang coffee intake. Pero last week, hala, in a day mga 4 cups of coffee ang iniinom ko. Bumalik uli yung sakit ko, so i stopped drinking again….
Usually decaf ang coffee ko.

I had to set aside my coffee fix for my “health regimen revamp.” I still get my fix once in a while kasi hindi pwedeng wala akong Starbucks kahit at least once a week man lang. Para akong adik. I’ll take in anything that I feel like taking in there basta Starbucks. I miss my quad shot espresso hazelnut latte but I know that I can go back to it anytime naman once I’m all set with my health plan.
Sa office naman, nagpapalpitate ako sa coffee namin. It’s brewed and it’s definitely delicious but I guess I’m just taking in too much.
Enjoy your coffee! I consider coffee drinking as my way of celebrating life. It’s my “me” time.

4-5pm is fine with me too coz normally that’s my coffee break at the office. But then I can do without coffee the whole afternoon as long as I had my cup in the morning.

Hi Cess, just like everybody, I like drinking coffee, be it brewed or the instant ones twice or thrice a day. But when I discovered I have a small kidney stone, doctor advised me to lessen the coffee intake (which contains oxalate daw, including chocolates). Now I just drink one cup a day.

decaf is like coke light, there’s something wrong with the taste! my sleep is not really affected by coffee, except when the coffee is really, really strong.
