It’s supposed to look like this.

2.JPG

But for now it’s a nightmare that looks like this.

6.JPG

With about 10 or so parts as thin as these.

1.JPG

And a gazillion parts as tiny as this.

It doesn’t matter if I designate a special toy box for this heap. Soon it’ll find its way in the most obscure places. You know what I’m talking about.

Oh, the stress that awaits me!

Nevertheless, many thanks to my sister for giving this gift to my son. He finds it wonderful. He is now singing praises to his aunt as I massage my temples.

Some people think Lego deserves a Nbbel Prize or something close to it for being the most creative, unlimited-only-by the imagination, educational toy in the world. I agree. But I can see where the headache is coming from.

LC: yes, it sure encouraged my son to be creative. pero, the pieces can be parusa to me. masakit sa paa, for one. i remember seeing another mommy blog, inis na inis siya sa lego, and i can so relate. iniisip ko na lang happy ang anak ko. then i quietly pack away the pieces in the bodega as soon as he gets tired of it.

    Ang bait naman ni Tita!
Favorite din pala ng tsikiting mo ang Power Ranger SPD.
Suwerte ang mga bata ngayon, ano? Kami noon, nag-aagawan kami sa Lego ng mga pinsan ko.

LC: oo nga, e, thanks anyway to Tita :)

I came to terms with Miguel’s “mess” easily when I read somewhere that you have to let your kids mess up and explore things - this will help in developing their creativity. 10 years later and a gazillion missing lego pieces, I’m happy that I let Miguel his thing coz he’s very creative and is even planning to program his own game now (yikes!). Just give your children a corner where they can place their stuff and discipline them to put it there after playing. It will minimize your squabbles believe me :)

LC: hay, oo nga, yan na lang ang aking consolation. i also noticed that my son’s analytical skills are honed here. it’s just that sometimes, no matter how vigilant we all are, the lego pieces do a toy story - nabubuhay sa gabi at kung saan-saan napupunta. or maybe my housekeeping skills need fine tuning! hahaha~

Haha! The upside is more bonding on challenging times with your son as the two of you find those tiny parts in the obscure places in your house. :)

LC: ah, oo, my sis gave her two sets of zoids last year, same problems… teka, galit yata sa amin ang kapatid ko, puro mga ganito ang mga regalo sa anak ko.

i owe a lot to Lego. my kids have developed a lot of skills and patience during their growing up years.

and tikey is right–imagine yourself stepping on lego pieces in the middle of the night. ouch!

Kaming magkakapatid lumaki na me Lego sa paligid. ‘Til now my youngest brother collects Lego - the Star Wars collection. I am planning on having my Ferrari collection and in fact, I’ve already started that last year when I bought my first 2 sets of Lego - the Ferrari pitstop and a motorized Police boat. Nakadisplay sila ngayon sa bahay.

Basti wanted to tinker with it but I firmly told him that I won’t let him - not until he’s older anyway. Masakit yan pag natapakan - believe me!

It would be great if you could get to keep all the pieces as much as possible and maybe rebuild them later on for a collection. Patience, creativity and technical know-how din ang kelangan (i.e. following instructions as much as possible to a T). Those are things na kelangan kong ma-enhance. Hehehe!

Good luck sa pagliligpit. That’s one task that is unavoidable :)

i guess dad and son are enjoying the lego toys. leave it up to them to assemble them. most moms don’t have the patience. lalo na sa pagligpit. he he.

haha, i can totally relate. that’s the reason why we didnt really pursue buying lego, yun nga lang, may nag regalo pa rin, hirap iligpit. thank heavens, there’s MegaBlocs, mas bigger yung blocks at madali lang mahanap sa mga sulok-sulok ng house. :)

haha! I can relate. Some challenging toys have given me quite a headache in the past. I think by now Yohan has learned that his Dad can work faster on toys that need to be assembled than me.

Ay naku, I make it a task to buy different sizes of plastic boxes and label them accordingly para magkakasama ang mga parts pero after a few days, halo halo din. It’s a never ending sorting.

my dad was always giving me lego when i was a kid. no matter how complicated, i was able to form the pieces together! kaya nga ata ako naging engineer (although dapat ata civil engr, hehe).

anyway, as long as your kids don’t eat the small pieces and always place them in a container (so its not messy), lego should be good for him! :)

you know, when i first bought my son small items like this to assemble? I had 2.5 days of peace and quiet! its very rare to see my son so engross with legos/k’nex/bionicle.

I used to organise my son’s pieces in neat containers. I gave up. I just chuck them all in one big box and tell myself, I will organise them in some distant future.
